There are three young learner exams (YLE) for children aged 7-12. They are divided into three levels:

        Starters

        Movers

        Flyers

Each exam has three parts:

        Reading and Writing;

        Listening;

        Speaking.

Why should my child take Cambridge exams?

Clear progress

Even the most basic certificate for primary school children is a start on the pathway to qualifications that are useful for work and study.

Recognition

Your child will work towards certificates that are recognized by thousands of educational organizations, employers, government agencies and immigration bodies throughout the world [link to organizations which recognize Cambridge exams].

For example, a child may obtain three shields for Reading and Writing, four shields for Listening and five shields for Speaking. The minimum award for children who have attempted all three components is an Award with one shield for each component.

Results

Marking is completed at Cambridge ESOL within two weeks of receiving the children’s completed answer booklets. Children should receive their Awards within one month of taking their test, allowing for dispatch time.
